Frequently Asked Questions

  • We understand we can’t operate a reliable business plan based on unreliable ocean conditions. If the conditions aren’t suitable for a safe and enjoyable experience we simply do not operate. We will contact you the night before your booking and offer a postponement day or a full refund.

  • We measure swimming ability rather than age. As a general guide: 12 - 60 years on Freedom Tours and 5 - 12 years on Private Tours. If you would like some guidance on which tour would suit you best please reach out to our team through email kiaorana@snorkelcookislands.com or on social media. We recommend our Private Tours if you require some extra assistance in the water.

  • YOU MAY REBOOK OR CANCEL YOUR ACTIVITY up to 72 business hours in advance of the activity departure time without penalty. Simply email us at kiaorana@snorkelcookislands.com to cancel. Note if booked with a coupon/discount code this cancellation policy does not apply.

IF YOU CANCEL YOUR ACTIVITY LESS THAN 72 BUSINESS HOURS BEFORE the scheduled activity departure time or if you fail to appear at the designated time for the activity, you will be charged for the full price of the activity.

IF THE RARE CASE YOUR ACTIVITY MUST BE CANCELED or postponed due to poor weather conditions or other unforeseeable events, you will be contacted by phone and you may either reschedule for an alternate time based on space availability or receive a full refund. If you opt for a refund, your credit card will be reimbursed in approx 3-5 business days.

    COUPON/DISCOUNT CODES

Are non refundable or can be rescheduled. If the tour is cancelled by our team due to weather or safety concerns you will in this rare case be fully refunded.

  • Transfers are only available for our Private Tours. Car parking for rental vehicles is provided across the road. Our location is on the main road bus route. For only $5 you can jump on the anti-clockwise 15mins from Arorangi or the clockwise 10mins from Muri. The timetable can be found here

  • Our snorkeling experiences operate Monday - Friday on a variable low-tide schedule. To see availability during your stay click here

  • We are located on the beach at Avaavaroa passage, Southside of Rarotonga on the main road bus route.

  • All you need to pack is your swimwear and a towel. We supply coconut oil for a natural sun protector and insulator, reef shoes, fins, snorkel & mask, and a drinking coconut replenishment. Onsite, we have parking and security boxes to store your belongings while out in the ocean. If you are prone to getting cold bringing a rash top can be a good idea!

  • Our tour duration is two hours. On arrival we will get you to come sign in with one of our team members who will get you fitted with reef shoes, fins and a mask and snorkel. We will then ask you to head down to the beach for an introduction to our snorkeling spot and a briefing on how the tour will commence when we are in the water. After exploring the beauty of the passage for an “island hour” we will make our way back to the beach to share some coconuts and local recommendations.

  • We have coconut oil available on arrival that is a natural protector and insulator. We ask that if using sunscreen you please check to ensure it is reef safe. That means it does not include chemicals such as Oxybenzone and Octinoxate which are damaging to the reef and contribute to coral bleaching and coral reproduction as well as being harmful to our marine life.

  • Underwater Photography is provided for our Private Tours only. If coming along on our Freedom Tours you are welcome to bring along your own underwater camera but the best memories will be captured through your eyes!

  • Once you have booked your tour you will be sent an email confirmation containing important information for the tour such as the date, time and location so please ensure you read it carefully.

  • We have security boxes to store your belongings in while we are out in the ocean.
